Chilling out

Nevaeh is learning to find items that help her to regulate. Of late Nevaeh has been taking the weighted blanket from the tent and pulling it over herself in the bean bag. Nevaeh will also go and pull the curtain in the sensory room to make it darker. She will indicate her need for the lights and music. This shows that Nevaeh is becoming aware of things that make her feel better.

Time with Jackie

Neveah is using the Connect Four to post the discs in a slot. Jackie worked with Nevaeh guiding her to reach forward, find the slot then post the disc. Nevaeh chose the colour of disc that she want to insert.

Nevaeh was keen to explore the discs further in the tent.

Thanks for such an awesome session Jackie.

Term 3 Week 6

Term 3 has been a wee bit up and down, unfortunately Neveah has been caught with a few of the nasty bugs going around this term, so we have missed her at school for a few weeks.  But when she has been at school we have had some great days. Neveah has enjoyed a show with the whole school, Polynesian dancing and singing. Neveah also has loved being involved in some PE, she really loves hearing the children laugh and run around excited, she always has the biggest smile on her face.

We have been missing the therapist coming to visit so it was nice to see Sam this week, Neveah enjoyed a good play in the library and some speedy running around the school at play time.

We have also had some wonderful time in sensory garden, it is starting to take shape, we have the two large music equipment, Neveah is loving the xylophone, she has been making some beautiful sounds and playing alongside some of her friends.

Term 2

It was a busy end to term 2.  Neveah worked hard at achieving a certificate and ribbon at RDA, I was lucky to be able to go with her and Jackie, also Ollie and Sabian. Seeing how far Neveah has come with RDA and how her confidence has grown was fantastic.

Maria and myself were also able to get a last visit to the library, we found a Greedy Cat and sat down for a quiet read.

The sensory room was the perfect place to get some messy paint play in, Neveah wasn’t so keen on holding the paintbrush but we managed to get some beautiful pictures done. In the sensory room, we also have a set of pink draws and Nevaeh has shown an interest in exploring them, looking and searching through, great exploring fun.
